Center for Global Development

Jan. 22, 2015

The Center for Global Development (CGD) works to reduce global poverty and inequality through rigorous research and active engagement with the policy community to make the world a more prosperous, just, and safe place for us all. CGD is the only think tank based in Washington, DC that maintains a singular focus on global economic development and is the leading US think tank on development policy. CGD has moved a number of ideas to action. For example, the Center created the Advanced Market Commitments for vaccines concept. Our research aims to inform, promote, and provoke meaningful policy change among the international financial institutions and governments. CGD is regularly recognized for our “outsize influence among decision-makers” (Washington Post, November 20, 2010). As our scholars’ research and policy views are grounded in evidence-based analysis, CGD is a fully independent research institution and its individual employees do not act on behalf of or represent donors.
